Here comes an official app to browse Wikipedia on your iPhone & iPod touch. Wikipedia foundation released the free app and you can download it from App Store(iTunes link).
This app has nothing great to offer other than what is already available through the mobile version of Wikipedia website. It is just a wrapper application to the mobile website.
There are several third party free apps(Wapedia, Wikiamo and Wikipanion ) for iPhone that provide features like the ability to easily browse tables of content, in-page searching, save posts for offline reading. The official app does not have any of these features!!
Wikipedia foundation acknowledge this and said the first version of the application is primarily focused on speed & simplicity. But as the application is an open source and Wikipedia has enormous developers and programmers support, soon we can expect to see an enhanced version.
In my school, they have blocked wikipedia but they haven’t blocked sites like gmail,yahoo mail etc.
Just installed this app hoping that in future we may get some cool features.
