San Francisco's famous Bay Bridge is shut down as few pieces of the cantilever section fell down and seems to be there is not much damage. The interesting part of this news for geeks – this news was first broke on Twitter. The commuter Joe Marshall (@larfo) snapped a picture  of Bay Bridge debris and tweeted it to his Twitter account using twitpic.

This was not the first time a news is broken on twitter before the main stream media. Many incidents like Jakarta bombing, Mumbai bombing sand Hudson River plane crash news was posted to twitter just after few minutes when they happened.

This is another clear example of the power of Twitter and citizen journalism.
