Even though there are more than enough testers and feedback coming into meet the engineering needs of Windows 7, Microsoft has extended the availability of Windows 7 Beta downloads till February 12, 2009.
In a blog post Windows 7 team said
Because enthusiasm continues to be so high for the Windows 7 Beta and we don't want anyone to miss out we will keep the Beta downloads open through February 10th. Customers who have started but not completed the download process will be able to do so through February 12th.
The closure of the Windows 7 Beta is planned in two phases
February 10th – Links to download Windows 7 Beta will be disabled and no new downloads are allowed after 10th. If you have already started your Windows 7 Beta download and have not finished, you will be able to finish.
February 12th – The Windows 7 Beta will no longer be
available to download. Also if all the ongoing Windows 7 Beta downloads will be terminated.

there is no official word on the number of Windows 7 beta downloads so far. But I believe that it would have crossed the 2.5 mark long ago as there is a huge demand.
