Microsoft’s Windows Phone application platform has reached a new milestone by adding 50,000 applications for it’s users. While this count is no where close the number of applications available on iOS and Android platforms, its a good sign that developers are beginning to support the OS.
For Windows Phone to reach 40000 apps counter, it took almost an year and the next 10000 apps are added in just 40 days. The rate at which the last 10K apps submitted is very impressive. This acceleration may be directly attributed to the recent launch of Windows Phones by Nokia under the brand name of Lumia.
If the apps acceleration continues at the same pace, then 2012 is going to be a really good year ahead for Microsoft and its partners.
