N97 Launch Buzz: Expert’s Opinion

Unlike the iPhone 3G , which doesn’t feature a Qwerty keypad, tapping out long messages, browsing the Web or chatting to friends over IM should be easy. Nokia is hardly going overboard with the hype on this one: “The N97 isn’t a device that will trigger knee-jerk hysteria,” it modestly promises, and it’s right, but it’s a solid phone that will hopefully deliver a great messaging and social experience.

Well laid-out Qwerty keyboard; access to Ovi Store; customisable homescreen; widgets with live updates; angled screen; epic 32GB of memory with room for 16GB more

Nokia’s smartphone line is due for a refresh. The company was the leader in creating a market for handsets that can be programmed and have computer-like processing power. With a whopping 49 gigabytes of storage, the N97 represents another escalation in this trend.

The N97 does a fine job of combining the best and most useful features from Nokia’s other ranges into a does-it-all superphone. The camera, keyboard and screen are all top notch.

Fasten your belts! It is expected to cost $699. That’s a lot of money right?
