Microsoft Servers Crashes, Temporarily Holds Windows 7 Beta Distribution. The Wait Continues..

windows7-logoMicrosoft could not cope up with the demand for Windows 7 Beta downloads. The Windows 7 Beta download servers are down and distribution of the beta is temporarily put on hold.

Windows 7 web site has the following statement

Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal-we're in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We're sorry for the delay and we'll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience.

soft failing in a big way. When Steve Ballmer announced the release date as January 9th 2009, there was no specific information on what time the beta download would be available.

Later Windows Partner Program web site announced that the download links will be available from 12 PM PST, January 9th. I was tracking the Windows 7 website till 1 PM PST (approximately  2 AM in India) but there were no links provided. Sometime in the later part of the day Microsoft provided links to download the beta but soon the servers crashed due to high demand.

It is not clear when Microsoft is going to restore the download links. The Windows 7 beta wait continues..
