The BIG missing option in youtube has always been watching videos in HD (High Definition).
There is a simple trick to view the videos in HD just adding an additional value in the URL. Also there is a trick to embed HD videos in your site.
It’s really simple just add “&fmt=22” to the end of the video URL. Here is he example.
Also you can embed HD content into the site by
<object width="630" height="380"> <param value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YOURVIDEOCODEHERE&ap=%2526fmt%3D22" name="movie" /><param value="window" name="wmode" /> <param value="true" name="allowFullScreen" /><embed width="630" height="380" wmode="window" allowfullscreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/THEVIDEOCODEHERE&ap=%2526fmt%3D22"></embed></object>
Simply replace THEVIDEOCODEHERE by the actual video code, Viola you are done.
There is more good news google has announced that it would widen the screen display size. Videos uploaded in the 16:9 widescreen would be supported. So what happens to the 4:3 videos that are currently available? More good news they will not stretched. Such videos will be centered and there will be empty black patch to cover the area. Below shows how a wide screen display in youtube would look like.
MGM movie makers (Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios), will be the first major movie studio to post full-length feature films on YouTube, I know so many questions will be there in eveyones mind when they read this statement. Lets just wait and watch whats the plan for the same.
