It is hard to believe that Apple’s App Store is just two years old by looking at it’s success. Anyways today is App Store’s 2nd birthday and lets all wish Happy Birthday.
It was on July 10th, 2008 the App Store was launched with 500 applications. Today it has over 225,000 applications, 40,000 publishers, billions and billions of downloads, and over $1 billion in revenue. It’s growing at a rapid pace and it’s competitors are not even in the sight(rumour: Microsoft is planning to start it’s own store for Windows 8). App Store is key to the entire Apple’s eco system and in the coming years we wish it’s going to scale new heights no one imagined.
