Windows 7 Price To Start From $199?[Rumors]

Windows_7_Logo I love to read and blog as much as possible about Windows 7. Today I read a rumor on Ars Techncia that says Windows 7 pricing is going to start from $199 and grow from there

  • Windows 7 Starter: $199
  • Windows 7 Home Premium: $259
  • Windows 7 Professional: $299
  • Windows 7 Ultimate: $319

The rumored price of Windows 7 exactly same as the price of Windows Vista available in the market

Windows_Vista_Price

As Windows 7 Starter is going to be available through the OEM(original equipment manufactures) only, we have to shell out at least $259 to get a copy of Windows 7. Even though clean install copy of Windows 7 is looking expensive, I’m expecting for a cheap upgrade options from my current Windows Vista to Windows 7.

    Win7 is very nice.
But at the avove prices, M$ might well be linux’s best
    arguement

Where else can you run the package off a live cd, and if you like it
install quickly to mutiboot with a full monty of supporting applications already in place. Look ma, no registry !

“You point may be right. But how can we stick to an old OS like XP or think of using Linux? Windows 7 is very much advanced and the sophisticated. The ease at which we will be able to work PC is amazing. I’m waiting for the Windows 7 build to upgrade by 2 XP PCs and a Vista PC.”

I hope for your sake they improve the grammar checker ;P
Windows comes with far less stuff than any Linux or Mac unless you pay big money for the “ultimate” edition, in which case you get the bells and whistles like full drive encryption that everyone else gives you for free. I’m not sure how that == advanced and sophisticated.

Which applications are you expecting to see this “amazing” workflow speedup manifest itself in?

There are several good reasons one might have not to use Linux or Mac but speed is rarely if ever a factor. Indeed, linux often gives swifter performance for the same apps and the Nehalem Macs would crush most PCs in number crunching apps.

That’s a lot of nonsense from microsoft. always developing OS full of bugs that they cannot fix and to earn them more billion $ they will develop another version to fix the previous issues. Look what had happen to their previous windows version from 3.1 to 2000 until they were able to stabilized almost everything in windows xp. they same issues again pop-up at vista and now trying to fix it through windows 7. They are notorious robbers in the cyberzone. Try to use Linux or stick to your computer as long it still serve your purpose. stop upgrading always following suggestions from microsoft. you will loose all your hard earned money to them.

I screwedupvista : if you want to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7(which comes at cheaper price when compared to full Windows 7), we need an installed copy of VISTA.

As you have all the details of Vista, you should be able to install Vista and upgrade it to Windows 7.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :( I’ve never had a legal copy of any Windows in my life, and now, that I’m using the RC, seeing how good it is… I’m totally sold, yes I’m as surprised as you probably are, but Microsoft actually made software that not only is good enough to keep, it is good enough to make a person that has pirated every Windows product from 3.1 to XP (hell no to Vista!!!), actually pay money for the OS… But these prices!!! God damn! It is gonna be hard.
