How To Create iTunes Store Account Without Credit Card

itunes-logo Many of us who have the iPhone/iPod are still struggling to install free applications available in the iTunes store. The problem is either we don’t have a credit card to create the account or may be the free application is not available in our country’s iTunes store(most of the free apps are available for US users only).

To solve both the problems there is way in which we can create iTunes account as a US user and also skip entering credit card details. Here are the simple steps to follow:

  1. Launch iTunes application on your computer
  2. Select “iTunes Store” from the left side panel options; displays iTunes Store home page.
  3. Select United States as your location from the country selection drop down menu available at the bottom of the page
  4. After choosing the country, click on "Top Free Apps" section
  5. When the application’s page is loaded – click on "Get App" button; login window will appear.
  6. Click on the "create account" button
  7. Fill out US address details and click on continue. If you don’t know any valid US address you can use Apple US retail store address by pointing your browser to http://www.apple.com/retail/ and choosing a store from the list available in the page
  8. After submitting valid US postal address details, iTune Store registration takes you to payment mode page.  Here choose the option "None" and finish the registration.
  9. You will now see the congratulation page. You’re done! Your iTunes Store account is created without credit card and from now onwards you can download all the free applications available to US users from any country.

Note: If you try and create an account directly from the logon box, you will be missing the option called "None" in the payment page, and you end up in compulsory submitting your credit card details.

  5. Thanks a bunch… I wanted to use this for genius. My friend was being dumb and not letting me use his Account. It still works as of today. I can’t believe Apple MAKES you use a credit card number in the normal sign up. They’re starting to sound alot like Microsoft…

  6. This is so annyoing! It gets me so mad! Apple is so confusing these day, it makes me so aggervated. They really need to do something about it. And also, I think people should be able to make an account without reedeming a card, or using a credit card. Its so annoying.

  7. Thanks so much. I thought I needed to use my credit card and you’ve cleared up all my problems! (It works, iTunes ver: 8.0.2.20, you have to go to the free apps section and click get app. The last option is None (the list of credit card types))

  9. I didn’t download the lates version and it’s working for me.
I guess they fixed the bug.

Now I got games and I got apps

  10. it think it is just a bug they’ll fix, because if they wouldn’t want to allow it, they would have completely deleted the “none” option, and that option is still there

  11. That’s turning me crazy.. I don’t know why they do that.. I feel like i have to buy one of those gift card…

    they’re quite evil….

  12. The same problem with me.. im from indonesia, i’ve tried it 100 times T_T and still it says : It says: “You did not complete the entire form Please enter your credit card number The credit card expiration date you entered has already passed Please enter a valid expiration date” is there any another trick?

  15. That’s exactly what I did 10 times, I have itunes 8.0.2.20, i don’t know if there’s a difference.

I was chatting with a supporter on the apple website, he said it was wierd that it wasn’t working for me.

He said he would open a ticket for that problem, hope he did.

    anyway I will try again.

  16. hi, I’ve just verified it once again in iTunes 8 and its working fine for me.
    Try this…
    >First you have to select any free applications under “Top Free Apps” section and click on the “GetApp” button, then you will get a logon screen.
    >Select ‘create account’ option from this screen.

Note:Common problem is selecting the ‘create account’ option directly from iTunes store home page without selecting the free application first.

  17. Samething here… I think they don’t accept the none option anymore. hope it’s something they will solve because I can’t install any app without an account.

If any one has a solution!!!

  18. This just does not work.
I tried that already and it still says my credit card info is invalid!

It says: “If you provide a payment method now, you will not be charged until you make a purchase If you select None, you will be asked to provide a payment method when you make your first purchase”
And when you select ‘None’ and hit Continue: “You did not complete the entire form Please enter your credit card number The credit card expiration date you entered has already passed Please enter a valid expiration date”
