‘Retweet’ is Now in the Oxford Dictionary

We all know the word ‘retweet’. Don’t we? Retweet is the act of sharing tweets of those you follow on Twitter with your own followers. Retweeting is a very popular activity on Twitter.

Recognising the popularity of retweet, Concise Oxford English Dictionary has added it to it’s English words list. Other popular words that got into the dictionary are: sexting, cyberbullying, woot and jeggings.

Retweeting of tweets started in 2008 and in 2009 Twitter officially started integrating the Retweet button in the platform. In 2010 Twitter officially released Tweet Button for external sites.
