When I was installing MySQL Server 5.1 using the installer mysql-5.1.36-win32_old.msi on one of our Microsoft Windows Server a nasty error flashed on the screen
The wizard was interrupted before MySQL Server 5.1 could be completely installed
The only option enabled on the error message was a button to close the installation wizard abruptly. There are no traces in the log files or Windows Event Log on the reason why MySQL Installer abruptly terminated the installation wizard.
Seems to be the current version of MySQL Windows based installer 5.1.36 is a bit buggy and it’s troubling many users. There are many people going mad with this issue and discussing on MySql bug report forum.
To get around this problem all we need to download 5.1.34 version of installer from official MySql archives or from filehippo server and install MySql database server.
The older version of the installer smoothly installed MySql and we quickly deployed the rest of apps required to up the site. Lets hope MySql developers are going to sort out this issue in the next release
